- Sells up to 300 pasties per day
As one of the oldest and most famous pubs in Bolton, Ye Olde Man and Scythe attracts customers from all over the world and offers its customers an enjoyable place to eat, drink and listen to live music. After trying a variety of different food the landlord decided to try selling Carrs Pasties which has proved to be successful for the pub and its customers.
John, the manager, has worked at the pub for 15 years and said: “We needed to find our niche, proper meals such as chilli didn’t work for us because we’re not that kind of pub”. It seems that simplicity has been the most successful. People now enjoy having a pasty and a pint so Carrs Pasties works for both customers and the company.
It took a while for the pub to work out the number of pasties they needed each week but John says that it’s now rare for any pasties to be left over. He said: “Friday to Sunday are particularly busy days, with Saturday being the busiest. We can do up to 300 pasties a day.”
Ye Olde Man and Scythe has a Carrs Pasties swing sign outside, in addition to posters inside the pub too. Customers from all over the UK visit the pub and if they’ve never had a Carrs Pasty they’ll ask about it so it generates conversations between customers and bar staff. John Said: “It’s working really well, we’ve had positive reactions and Carrs Pasties are always reliable. People want to eat them at all times throughout the day.”
